Evolution of Set Design

The American Institute of Architects’ New York Chapter (AIANY) will host Architecture and Theater – Redefining the Performance Experiencethis evening at 6pm at the Center for Architecture.

The event, which is open to the public, will feature a conversation between award-winning architect and set designer David Rockwell and Tony Award-winning director, producer, writer, and lyricist Jack O’Brien. The conversation will be moderated by Chee Pearlman, an internationally regarded design editor.

Rockwell and O’Brien will discuss the transformation of the theater and set design as new technologies, including digital media, have brought another dimension to the experience. Pearlman will lead a panel in a dialogue about their work and collaborations, including Hairspray, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, and Catch Me If You Can. There will also be a book signing for Rockwell’s newest publication, What If…?: The Architecture and Design of David Rockwell.
